Basketball Recap: Shelby Kelly's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wartburg Central over Concord Christian

The Wartburg Central Bulldogs came up short against the Concord Christian Lions on Monday, falling 53-30.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shelby Kelly, who posted nine points. Kelly also posted an assist, marking her first of the season.

Leading Concord Christian to victory were Kiran Keeton and Brooklynn Brown. Keeton had 14 points and five steals, while Brown almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Keeton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Kiera Cooper was another key player, putting up three points and five steals.

Wartburg Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Concord Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Wartburg Central has already played their next game, a 49-32 loss against Oakdale on the 21st. As for Concord Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-26 win against Clayton-Bradley Academy on the 21st.
