Basketball Recap: Peyton's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Panthers on Monday. Peyton put the hurt on Harrison with a sharp 40-20 win. The victory was nothing new for Peyton as they're now sitting on five straight.

Peyton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sammie Nickell, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Nickell has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times she's played. Scarlett Clark was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Peyton was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in March of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Harrison lost, don't look at Nadia Turnipseed. Despite the final result, she posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Turnipseed a new career-high in blocks (three).

Peyton now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Harrison, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Peyton will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Evangel Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 20th. Evangel Christian Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Peyton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Harrison, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 35-32 loss against Palmer on the 14th.
