Baseball Game Preview: Red Wing Wingers vs. Mankato East Cougars

The Red Wing Wingers are taking a road trip to square off against the Mankato East Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Red Wing has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Red Wing needed a bit of extra time to put away Century. They won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 9-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Wingers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Mankato East came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Packers. The contest marked the Cougars' most dominant victory of the season.

Mankato East's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Red Wing, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Red Wing might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Mankato East when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wingers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
