Basketball Recap: Elmwood-Murdock Drops Highest Score of Season Against Weeping Water

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elmwood-Murdock). They came out on top against the Weeping Water Indians by a score of 66-55 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Weeping Water lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gus McGill, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. McGill is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Landon Fulton was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Elmwood-Murdock's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4. As for Weeping Water, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Elmwood-Murdock and Weeping Water could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Elmwood-Murdock (ranked 139th) will meet Auburn (ranked 32nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Weeping Water (ranked 235th) will meet Johnson-Brock (ranked 26th) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
