Softball Recap: Germantown Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Germantown can now relate to. They fell just short of the Lewisburg Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Mavericks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mackenzie Donnell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Germantown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Glasgow, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Presley Merkich was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Germantown's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Lewisburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-12.

While Germantown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
