Baseball Recap: South Amboy Comes Up Short

South Amboy's last matchup with J.P. Stevens could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Governors came up short against the Hawks, falling 12-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Governors of the 7-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Benjamin Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

South Amboy has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for J.P. Stevens, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.

While South Amboy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
