Basketball Recap: Johnston Takes a Loss

Johnston was the 59-49 winner over Ankeny when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Johnston Dragons fell just short of the Ankeny Hawks by a score of 41-38 on Friday. The matchup marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Johnston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Ankeny, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-7.

Johnston has already played their next match (against Urbandale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ankeny is taking a road trip to challenge Dallas Center-Grimes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dallas Center-Grimes will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Ankeny surely won't give up without a fight.
