Baseball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Takes a Loss

Sugar Creek Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 24-3 to the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 back in March.

Kam Guerrero made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one run. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Mason Riley, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Sugar Creek Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Piedmont Community Charter, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sugar Creek Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Queen's Grant at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they will head out to square off against North Hills Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
