Preview: Gaston Bulldogs vs. Sand Rock Wildcats
Gaston has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Sand Rock Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Sand Rock is ranked 69th).
Last Friday, Gaston was the victim of a tough 35-13 defeat at the hands of Hokes Bluff. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gaston has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Sand Rock entered their tilt with Collinsville with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Sand Rock simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Collinsville 74-23 on the road. Sand Rock might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Katelyn St.Clair, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 1 assists. The match was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Henderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Sand Rock, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Gaston was dealt a bruising 77-34 loss at the hands of Sand Rock in their previous meeting back in February. Can Gaston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
