Softball Recap: Erie-Prophetstown Takes a Loss

Riverdale hit Erie-Prophetstown with a five-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 11-3 to the Rams. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost five in a row.

Erie-Prophetstown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Grawe, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Alyssah Padia, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Erie-Prophetstown's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Riverdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Erie-Prophetstown will challenge Mendota at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Riverdale, they will face off against Mercer County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.2, the Golden Eagles 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
