Softball Recap: Cotter Beats Marshall for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Cotter barely beat Marshall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bobcats on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Myah McNutt made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cotter let Kenzie Graham and Paige Meis run wild. Graham scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Meis scored three runs while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave Meis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Tucker, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cotter, bringing their record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-7.

Coming up, Cotter will host Mountainburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.78 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marshall, they are taking a road trip to square off against Shirley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
