Baseball Recap: University Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for University, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Trailblazers, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Finn Steiner looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Cooper Cammack and Ryan Castetter did most of the damage at the plate: Cammack went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Castetter went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Cammack has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Jacobs, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got University back to even at 8-8. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Coming up, University will take on Seton Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trailblazers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Speedway at 5:30 p.m.
