Softball Game Preview: University School Buccaneers vs. Hampton Bulldogs

The University School Buccaneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Hampton Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. University School is looking for their season's first win.

University School lost 15-2 to Unaka on Tuesday. The game marked the Buccaneers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hampton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Cloudland, falling 11-1.

Maleah Scalf was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Malory Lamb also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Hampton's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for University School, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-5.

University School came out on top in a nail-biter against Hampton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for University School since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
