Recap: Pender Pendragons vs. North Bend Central Tigers
The Pender Pendragons put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 43-33 win over North Bend Central. Given Pender's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while North Bend Central is ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pender got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Wegner out in front who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Wegner's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Walsh, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Pender's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for North Bend Central, they have fallen quite a ways from their 28-1 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pender will be home for the holidays to greet Stanton at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Bend Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Battle Creek at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Battle Creek is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
