Basketball Recap: Nederland Panthers vs. Vanguard Classical East Hawks
The Nederland Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They really took it to Vanguard Classical East for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-39 victory at home. The win was some much needed relief for Nederland as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Nederland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rick Fortunato, who scored 13 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Ritch, who scored 13 points.
Nederland's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Vanguard Classical East, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.
Nederland will challenge the Pioneers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vanguard Classical East, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Twin Peaks Charter Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Friday.
