Softball Preview: Boise Brave vs. Timberline Wolves

Boise hasn't had much luck against Timberline recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Brave will square off against the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Boise is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Meridian, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Boise was ranked 16th). The Brave were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Warriors on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lilly Hopstad was a standout: she went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Newbery, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Boise was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Delaney Wright made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Graklanoff was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mallorie Casch, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Timberline's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Boise, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
