Football Game Preview: Bishop O'Connell Knights vs. Landon Bears

The Bishop O'Connell Knights will head out to take on the Landon Bears at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Bishop O'Connell ended up a good deal behind Washington and lost 28-14. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 191st in Virginia, while the Patriots are ranked 42nd in West Virginia).

Bishop O'Connell might have lost, but man, Nick Morris was a machine: he rushed for 138 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries.

Even if they lost, Bishop O'Connell's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Jayden Campbell was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Another thorn in Washington's side was Joshua Taliaferro, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Landon came up short against Maret on Friday and fell 35-26. The loss was the Bears' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Landon fell to 3-1. As for Bishop O'Connell, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Bishop O'Connell took a serious blow against Landon when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 44-10. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Bears' Ubie Zaid, who picked up 141 receiving yards and three scores. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
