Softball Recap: Monroe Central Golden Bears vs. Daleville Broncos

Sadly, Monroe Central is still looking for their first win of the season after seven matches. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Daleville Broncos on Thursday. One positive for Monroe Central, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Whitley Martin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Makaylah Brainerd, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

On Daleville's side, Kyra Osborne made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Osborne was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Daleville let Emily Simmons and Raegan Jackson loose on the outfield. Simmons scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Jackson scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Simmons has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Pattengale, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with a double and an RBI.
