Baseball Recap: Ann Sobrato's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Ann Sobrato dropped their record down to 14-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Piedmont Hills Pirates by a score of 2-1. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Braylen Belardes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Piedmont Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

On Piedmont Hills' side, JT Tagud tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Tagud has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake Paskert was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

While Ann Sobrato had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
