Softball Recap: Valley Center Comes Up Short

Valley Center couldn't beat Fallbrook on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Jaguars came up short against the Warriors, falling 17-8. The Jaguars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Maribel Caratachea made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaya Allen, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Valley Center now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Fallbrook, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Valley Center will head out on the road to take on San Pasqual at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fallbrook, they will challenge Ramona at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
