Preview: Bloomfield Warhawks vs. Tolland Eagles
Bloomfield is 6-0 against Tolland since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bloomfield Warhawks will be playing at home against the Tolland Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bloomfield put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 44-6 win over East Catholic. Given Bloomfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while East Catholic is ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bloomfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Davion Kerr out in front who picked up 36 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Darrien Foster was another key contributor, throwing for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bloomfield's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Ryan Pryce and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Tolland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Lyman Hall 30-7.
Ryan Caminiti looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 189 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Nate Howe was in the mix as well, providing Tolland with two touchdowns.
Bloomfield pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.6 points per game. As for Tolland, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Bloomfield against Tolland in their previous matchup back in October of 2019 as the squad secured a 42-0 victory. Does Bloomfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tolland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
