Basketball Recap: Kayln Ifland Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. John's/Tipton Catholic

Smith Center won the last time they faced St. John's/Tipton Catholic and things went their way on Thursday too. The Smith Center Redmen had just enough and edged the St. John's/Tipton Catholic Blujays out 40-38.

Smith Center's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayln Ifland, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Weltmer, who posted eight points and 15 rebounds.

Smith Center now has a winning record of 2-1. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Smith Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-25 defeat against Phillipsburg on the 14th. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Clifton-Clyde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clifton-Clyde will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something St. John's/Tipton Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
