Basketball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. Ocean Lakes Dolphins

Landstown is 10-0 against Ocean Lakes since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Landstown Eagles will host the Ocean Lakes Dolphins at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Landstown's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Landstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Green Run, who was ranked fourth at the time (Landstown was ranked 17th). Landstown fell just short of Green Run by a score of 59-57 on Tuesday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Landstown saw an underclassman step up: freshman Damien Robinson went 8 of 13 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. The contest was Robinson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaevion Cleveland, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Ocean Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 54-38 to Salem.

Landstown's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Ocean Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Landstown against Ocean Lakes in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 77-34 victory. Will Landstown repeat their success, or does Ocean Lakes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
