Bowman Academy falls despite strong effort from Lamontae Cross

Recap: Bowman Academy Eagles vs. Griffith Panthers

The Bowman Academy Eagles were the 75-49 winner over the Griffith Panthers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bowman Academy fell just short of Griffith by a score of 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Despite the loss, Bowman Academy still got an impressive performance from Lamontae Cross, who scored 22 points along with eight steals and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cross has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Foley, who scored 15 points along with three steals.

Even though they lost, Bowman Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griffith only racked up 12 assists.

Griffith was led to victory by Cameron Chandler and Savon Miles. Chandler scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Miles scored 23 points along with two steals. Miles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jakhari Mackey was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.

Bowman Academy now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Griffith, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bowman Academy will challenge South Bend Riley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Griffith, they will head out on the road to challenge North Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Newton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Griffith likes a good challenge.
