Baseball Recap: West Orange Finds Home Field Redemption Against Seminole

There's no place like home for West Orange, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Seminole Seminoles 11-1 on Wednesday. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered an 8-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sims McClusky spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, West Orange got a big performance out of Angel Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlie Eidelman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

West Orange has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Seminole is on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

West Orange didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Edgewater on the 13th. As for Seminole, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Lake Brantley on the 13th.
