Baseball Recap: Beech Grove Drops Season-High Score on Monrovia

The third road contest was the charm for Beech Grove, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past the Monrovia Bulldogs 13-3 on Wednesday. The Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mason Thacker was excellent, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Matracia, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Beech Grove's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Monrovia, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beech Grove will welcome Warren Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.17 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monrovia, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter at 5:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
