Basketball Game Preview: New Braunfels Unicorns vs. Smithson Valley Rangers

The New Braunfels Unicorns will venture away from home to square off against the Smithson Valley Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in New Braunfels' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Last Tuesday, New Braunfels didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Veterans Memorial, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win.

Meanwhile, Smithson Valley came up short against Pieper on Wednesday and fell 62-54. The Rangers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

New Braunfels is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Smithson Valley, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Everything went New Braunfels' way against Smithson Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as New Braunfels made off with a 75-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Braunfels since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
