Basketball Game Preview: Mayfield Wildcats vs. Kenston Bombers

The Mayfield Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Kenston Bombers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Mayfield took their contest with ease, bagging a 78-48 victory over Chardon.

Meanwhile, Kenston beat South 57-44 on Friday.

Mayfield better keep an eye on Braelyn Akins. He was instrumental in Kenston's win, going 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Akins a new career-high in steals. Ethan Burge was another key player, putting up nine points.

Kenston has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Mayfield, they pushed their record up to 7-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Mayfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Kenston when the teams last played back in January, winning 62-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mayfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
