Baseball Recap: Clopton Has No Trouble Against Bowling Green

Clopton's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Bowling Green Bobcats. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Harrelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Clopton got a massive performance out of James Matheny, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Matheny a new career-high. Peter Daskalakis was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Clopton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Bowling Green, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Clopton will face off against Van-Far at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bowling Green, they will square off against Warrenton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
