Recap: Awaken Christian Lions vs. Laughlin Cougars
The Awaken Christian Lions entered their tilt with the Laughlin Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Awaken Christian managed a 42-37 victory over Laughlin on Thursday. This was payback for Awaken Christian, who suffered a 40-21 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Phoenix Sharp was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 17 rebounds. The match was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alahna Payne was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Laughlin had strong showings from Daishanae Jackson, who scored 14 points, and Valeria Qunitero, who scored 11 points.
Awaken Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Laughlin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Awaken Christian will take on Needles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Needles is ranked 26th in California, while Awaken Christian is ranked 36th in Nevada). Laughlin will be home for the holidays to greet Lincoln County at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th.
