Basketball Game Preview: Hickory Flat Rebels vs. Coffeeville Pirates

The Hickory Flat Rebels will venture away from home to take on the Coffeeville Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coffeeville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hickory Flat, who comes in off a win.

Hickory Flat will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points on Monday, then bounced right back against Strayhorn on Tuesday. Hickory Flat breezed by Strayhorn to the tune of 77-7. That looming 77-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rebels yet this season.

Meanwhile, Coffeeville was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Water Valley, falling 44-19.

Coffeeville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Hickory Flat, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.

Hickory Flat strolled past Coffeeville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 50-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hickory Flat since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
