Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Martinville). Everything went their way against the LaGrange Gators on Friday as they made off with a 17-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Ashlon Smith was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for St. Martinville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise. Dixon Aymond was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI.

St. Martinville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Martinville's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for LaGrange, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.

Coming up, St. Martinville will host Westminster Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for LaGrange, they will head out to challenge Abbeville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.47 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
