Baseball Recap: Basic Takes Down Ranked Spring Valley

Basic faced Spring Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolves walked away with a 6-1 win over the Grizzlies. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won seven in a row.

Basic got a great performance from Lincoln Evans as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Dallon Cegavske was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lyndon Lee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Basic's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Spring Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basic will venture away from home to take on Centennial at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spring Valley, they will head out to face off against Arbor View at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
