Softball Recap: Larue County Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Larue County entered their tilt with Meade County on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Green Waves. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Green Waves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Heidi Tipton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Larue County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laura Austin, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Austin has posted since back in March of 2024.

Larue County pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Meade County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Larue County will head out to challenge Hart County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Meade County, they will face off against Bethlehem at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
