Basketball Game Preview: Powell County Pirates vs. Floyd Central Jaguars

The Powell County Pirates will square off against the Floyd Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Powell County's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Floyd Central has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Powell County saw some tournament action last Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Estill County. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Engineers 18-12 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Floyd Central took a blow against Johnson Central on Thursday, falling 86-59.

Floyd Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Powell County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.

Powell County was taken down by Floyd Central 72-40 when the teams last played back in February of 2021. Thankfully for Powell County, Ronnie Samons (who went 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
