Baseball Recap: Sumner's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sumner had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Bonney Lake Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2019.

Cole Miller looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wyatt Plyler was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Westerdahl, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Sumner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonney Lake only posted a batting average of .222.

Sumner pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bonney Lake, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

As of now, neither Sumner nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
