Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Quincy Douby Jr and Boosie Swan Lead True North Classical Academy to Victory

The third road game was the charm for True North Classical Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They rang in the new year with a 71-58 win over the IMG Academy Black Ascenders on Saturday. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Ascenders are ranked 646th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading True North Classical Academy to victory were Boosie Swan and Quincy Douby Jr. Swan went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists, while Douby Jr went 6 of 13 en route to 17 points along with six steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Swan is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Rodriguez, who posted 12 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: True North Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

True North Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for IMG Academy Black, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. True North Classical Academy will challenge Somerset Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for IMG Academy Black, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th.
