Football Recap: Munster Comes Up Short

If Munster was riding high fresh off their 35-0 takedown of Highland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs had to suffer through a 49-14 loss at the hands of the Lowell Red Devils. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

A big part of Lowell's victory came down to the chemistry between Gavin Gutierrez and his top target Brody Kalwinski. Gutierrez picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of scores while Kalwinski threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Kalwinski a new career-high in passer rating (165.2).

Munster's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Lowell, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Munster is set to face off against their familiar foe Kankakee Valley at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lowell will square off against rival Andrean at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
