            Baseball Recap: Gibson Southern Titans vs. Jasper Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            Gibson Southern and Jasper squared off in some playoff action  on Monday, but Gibson Southern had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of  3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  1-0  back in May.
 Cam Truxal was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  struck out eight batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in nine consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Collin Higginbotham was cooking despite his team's loss,   going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  doubles, one  run,  and one  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Zach Foster, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
Gibson Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Jasper, the  victory was  the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-6.
As of now, neither Gibson Southern nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
