Softball Recap: Central Red Devils vs. Orono Riots
Central was the 4-1 winner over Orono when they last played one another on May 7th, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Devils fell just short of the Riots by a score of 9-7 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly two runs.
This is the second loss in a row for Central and nudges their season record down to 8-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Mattanawcook (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.8% over those games). As for Orono, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Central is set to square off against their familiar foe George Stevens Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Orono will take on rival Mattanawcook at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
