Softball Recap: Armstrong Trojans vs. Blue Ridge Knights        
        
		
            
 Armstrong entered their tilt with Blue Ridge with two consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged the Blue Ridge Knights out  9-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Armstrong also won the last time the pair played  back in March of 2023.
  Acasia Gernentz and  Tinley Parkerson were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing,  Gernentz   struck out eight batters over  4.2 innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. Meanwhile,  Parkerson   tossed four innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   five  hits (she also didn't allow any  walks). At bat,  Gernentz  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in two of her five plate appearances, while  Parkerson  went 3-for-5 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Kaylyn Hayes was  incredible,  going 4-for-5 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of  Makenna Ackerman, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Like Armstrong, Blue Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player:  Ellie Schlieper. She  struck out 14 batters over  8.1 innings while giving up  five earned  (and five unearned) runs off   13  hits. Schlieper was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Cassie Zimmerman was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 3-for-5 with two  triples, three  RBI,  and a  stolen base.  Addison Roos was another key contributor,  scoring three  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Even though they lost, Blue Ridge  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 14  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
 Armstrong pushed their record up to 3-0 with that  victory, which was their third straight  at home. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.3 runs per game. As for Blue Ridge, they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-5.
 Armstrong will head out on the road to  challenge  Westville at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakwood at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
