Softball Recap: Bellevue Tigers vs. Ludlow Panthers
Bellevue extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They lost 17-4 to the Ludlow Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on April 2nd.
Bellevue saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Hatch, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that Hatch has snagged this season.
As for Ludlow, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-7-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
On Ludlow's side, Evie Orsua made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Orsua was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Ralston, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miley Lay, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.
