Basketball Recap: Portsmouth Takes a Loss

Portsmouth was the 60-55 winner over Rock Hill when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Portsmouth Trojans were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 68-67 to the Rock Hill Redmen. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rock Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stephen Ison led the charge by going 6 for 13 en route to 21 points. That's the most points Ison has posted since back in December of 2024. Kelan Davidson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Portsmouth's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Rock Hill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portsmouth will welcome Fairland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairland will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Portsmouth surely won't give up without a fight. Rock Hill has already played their next contest (against Dawson-Bryant), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
