Baseball Recap: Decatur Eagles vs. Estacado Matadors
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Decatur can now relate to. They fell just short of the Estacado Matadors by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Matadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Friday.
Blaze Grider was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, James Mahoney was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
This is the second loss in a row for Decatur and nudges their season record down to 18-17-1. As for Estacado, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-16-1.
As of now, neither Decatur nor the Matadors have any future games scheduled.
