Basketball Recap: University Sets Scoring Season-High Against Muncie Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University). They blew past the Muncie Central Bearcats 57-32 on Saturday. The Trailblazers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since December 13, 2024 (when they won 55-18).

University's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabby Culp led the charge by dropping a double-double with 22 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Culp has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Feeney, who scored six points along with ten boards and seven assists.

University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

University's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Muncie Central, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will welcome Roncalli at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Muncie Central, they will be playing at home against New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
