Volleyball Recap: Carson Cougars vs. Central Cabarrus Vikings

There's no place like home for Carson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Central Cabarrus Vikings on Monday as the Carson Cougars made off with a 3-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in August.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Carson took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-11, 25-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Thonen, who had five aces and three digs. That's the most aces Thonen has posted since back in September of 2023.

Carson was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Cabarrus didn't served any.

Carson's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-5. As for Central Cabarrus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Carson is taking a road trip to challenge West Rowan at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Carson is facing West Rowan at the right time seeing as West Rowan is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Central Cabarrus, they will welcome East Rowan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Rowan will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Central Cabarrus surely won't give up without a fight.
