The Marquette Catholic Blazers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the West Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Marquette Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Marquette Catholic had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 51-41 win over Bethany Christian.
Marquette Catholic can attribute much of their success to JJ Welch, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Aleks Pecoski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Central ended up a good deal behind Argos on Friday and lost 62-46. West Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, West Central had strong showings from Bryce Nannenga, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Conner Schleman, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Nannenga scored a full 32.6% of West Central's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Marquette Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for West Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
