Baseball Game Preview: Summit Country Day Silver Knights vs. Cincinnati Country Day Nighthawks

The Summit Country Day Silver Knights will head out to square off against the Cincinnati Country Day Nighthawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Summit Country Day will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Summit Country Day had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Clark Montessori on Saturday. The Silver Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 9-0 shutout.

Nathan Endres looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Gavin Miller and Grayson Houchin did most of the damage at the plate: Miller got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Houchin went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lucas Reder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Summit Country Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clark Montessori only posted a batting average of .056.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cincinnati Country Day). They blew past Norwood 17-4 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Summit Country Day's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cincinnati Country Day, their record is now 8-9.

Summit Country Day might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Cincinnati Country Day when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Silver Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
