Baseball Game Preview: Huntland Hornets vs. Community Vikings/Viqueens

Huntland is 2-8 against Community since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Huntland Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the Community Vikings/Viqueens. Huntland has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Huntland is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Moore County, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, Community came into Tuesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Richland on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings/Viqueens have posted since April 11, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Dylan Markum, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Wesley Haley also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Community's record is now 2-4. As for Huntland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Huntland suffered a grim 13-5 defeat to Community when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Huntland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
