Softball Game Preview: Centennial Apaches vs. Lawndale Cardinals

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Lawndale. Centennial will be playing at home against Lawndale at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Centennial lost 18-3 to Lawndale on Tuesday.

For Lawndale's part, Aaliyah Torres made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Torres also tossed three walks, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Lawndale got a massive performance out of Wendy Rosales, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave Rosales a new career-high. Emely Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Lawndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lawndale's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
